This is a great Vintage Navajo Native American Southwest Southwestern Sterling Silver and Turquoise Ring, measuring approx. 7/8" X 5/8" at its widest, and is marked STERLING. This ring is a size 6 3/4. The stone is as it was put in by the artist. Early Native American jewelry was set with stones that had flaws or cracks as the believe was that if the stone did not like what had been done to it then its soul would be able to escape through the crack. The turquoise has flakes of silver throughout it! Very nice collectible piece, and all handmade.

Coin Silver is used a lot in the making of jewelry, especially Native American pieces. Coin Silver is 800 parts to 1000, ie 800/1000 pure silver, whereas Sterling Silver is 925 parts to 1000, ie 925/1000 pure silver.
